Where to find Adventure in Tanzania

Tanzania is an East African country that shares a border with Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west; and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the south. Its Eastern border is a long Indian Ocean Coastline.

Being just a few degrees south of the Equator, the country boasts a tropical climate and abundant wildlife. Below are the country's top adventure destinations.

1. Mt. Kilimanjaro

At 5,895 meters or 19,341 feet above the sea level, Mt Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world. It has three volcanic cones namely; Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. It is one of the main attractions to travelers in the Tanzania. Climbing this mountain will make best adventure yet.

2. Serengeti National Park

Located on the northern border with Kenya, Serengeti National Park is part of the beautiful ecosystem that is shared with the Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya. If you miss out on a chance to see the wildebeest migration in Maasai Mara in Kenya, you can head south to Serengeti for a chance to see them as they make their journey back.

3. Zanzibar

Zanzibar is an autonomous island that is part of the larger Tanzania. It is the place to go and sail in the fast moving dhows as well as snorkel in the rich Indian Ocean waters.

4. Ngorongoro Conservation Area

One of the African Big Five is the rhino. Unfortunately, the gigantic, one-horned mammal is an endangered species. You will find it in a few conservation areas in Africa. Top among these conservation areas is the Tanzanian Ngorongoro Reserve. The Maasai community that still lives in the reserve help keep the rhinos safe.

5. The Selous in Southern Tanzania

This is the Africa's largest conservation area and it features African animals such as elephants, cheetahs, black rhinos, African hunting dogs, hippos and crocodiles. Fortunately for you, the reserve is not as crowded as Serengeti and you will have an easy time to spend with the animals.

Tanzania is a great wildlife country and in Africa, the country is rated third after Kenya and South Africa. Like written elsewhere on this blog, it shares a border with Kenya, and it is part of the East African Community - a double advantage for you.
