The mountain peak is accessible through a winding walk track. The ranges spreads through 4 parishes of Jamaica including; St. Andrew, Portland, St. Thomas and St. Mary.

The Blue Mountains features one of the most diverse ecosystems in the Caribbean. On some parts, it is covered by dense lush green vegetation and towering trees. The forests surrounding the mountain contain over 500 species of flowering plants.

Apparently, the world's second largest butterfly, Papilio homerus, or more commonly Homerus Swallowtail, is found in these forests. About 200 species of birds also call the forests home.
