Norway's Arctic Awakening

Norway’s Arctic Awakening
You Will Experience the Best of Three Seasons on a Spring Cruise in Norway
On a cruise along the Norwegian coast, you can expect spectacular, ever-changing landscapes, charming ports, and diverse wildlife.
But traveling along this coast during Norway’s Arctic Awakening (April – June) is positively unique, with amazing, wide-ranging adventures and varied nature. On springtime cruises you will enjoy warm, summery temperatures in Bergen, the coastline in bloom as you sail north, to full winter above the Arctic Circle, where you can still participate in amazing winter excursions such as snowmobiling and dog sledding. In springtime you can visit stunning fjords that are not visited other times of year. And starting on May 17 and throughout June, the sun doesn’t set above the Arctic Circle, so you can experience beautiful landscapes under the otherworldly glow of the midnight sun. They also take this opportunity to offer fascinating hosted and themed cruises in Norway that provide additional historical, scientific, and cultural insights and experiences.
Norway: From the Vikings to the Nobel Peace Prize
Led by Professor Emeritus of the University of Washington, Department of Scandinavian Studies, Dr. Terje Leiren, this late March through early April cruise combines the northbound exploration of the stunning Norwegian coast with enlightening lectures about the Vikings, the creation of a Norwegian national identity, and Norway and the Nobel Peace Prize.

Explore the Sea and Sky with Former NASA Astronaut Dr. Kathy Sullivan
On this special April cruise you will sail along the fjords of Norway and discover the future of space exploration and the emerging Arctic thanks to fascinating lectures from Dr. Kathy Sullivan, the first American woman to walk in space and a 2004 inductee into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame. A veteran of three Space Shuttle missions, Dr. Sullivan will share her unique perspective on space travel, and what it’s like to live in space.

Exclusive Norwegian Experience: From Vikings to WWII

Experience information

  • Norway
  • Norway is the westernmost, northernmost—and in fact the easternmost—of the three Scandinavian countries. Best known for the complex and deep fjords along its west coast which stretches from the North Sea near Denmark and Scotland into the Arctic Ocean and has borders with Finland, Sweden and the northwestern tip of Russia. Norway may have a clutch of attractive, cosmopolitan cities, appealing destinations in their own right, but where the country really shines is not in its urban culture, but rather in the low-key, amiable small-town feel that pervades throughout its settlements.
