Must Visit Destinations in Africa
What would you give to relax on white sand beaches and listen to African drum beats in the background? Better still, how would you love to wake up early in the morning to the cacophony of sounds that make up the African wild? Below are destinations where you can have this and more.
1. Maasai Mara National Reserve
Here you will not only enjoy the spectacle of the migrating 2.5 million herbivores but also dance to the local Maasai tribesmen cultural dances. In fact, you will easily watch the beautiful Kenyan sun sink into the horizon after 12 hours of day time and usher in a beautiful starry African night. Make sure you can identify the various constellations that scatter the Milkaway.
2. The Victoria Falls in Zambia/Zimbabwe
Once you get to swim in the devils swimming pool at the tip of the Victoria Waterfalls, you may start to think that Niagara Falls is a joke (no pun intended). Only the Iguaçu Falls in Brazil come near to rivaling the great Victoria Falls.
3. The Pyramids of Giza
Located in the Deserts south of the Egyptian capital Cairo, the Pyramids of Giza is a lesson in history. It will take you back to thousands of years when the Egyptian Pharaohs ruled the then world. It will be an eye opening experience for the tourists, especially when they learn that the very first civilization started in the deserts of 'Misri'.
4. Cape Town, South Africa
This South African City is home to the Table Mountain, the most popular mountain in Africa. The beaches, restaurants, museums, as well as experiences such as shark cage diving and penguin watching will make you literally 'pee your pants' with delight.
5. Marrakech, Morocco
The imperial city of Marrakech, located at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains is a place you would want to visit - especially if you come from outside Africa. The large, noisy, polluted but fascinating city is will give you the authentic Africa feel that you cannot experience anywhere else.
Other popular destinations in Africa include the Island of Zanzibar in Tanzania, the old town of Lamu in Kenyan coast, the scenic beaches of Madagascar and many more.
Trust me; a trip to Africa is never without some fond memories. If you are with kids that have been brought up entirely in the city, Africa is a good place to introduce them into the wild - you never know, they may fall in love with the wild and become the next crop of environment conservation crusaders.
